Weekly Market Highlights
- Wheat futures prices are lower this week, basis premium prices are mostly firm.
- Bitter cold weather further slowed rail logistics late last week, but improvement could be expected over the holidays in part since much of the country has returned to more normal temperatures.
- Spring wheat futures continue to find support from fairly strong export sales. This year’s U.S. spring wheat crop is in good demand with competing markets like Canada experiencing lower quality and protein than usual.
- Wheat supplies at home and around the world remain plentiful, new crop in the Southern Hemisphere only adds to the totals.
