Colony Foods Employee Spotlight
This month’s employee spotlight is dedicated to Michael Hunter—a great friend, colleague, and longtime team member at Colony Foods. Though Michael retired a few months ago, his presence and impact are still felt by many of us every day.

Michael’s journey with Colony Foods began behind the wheel, delivering products across five states to pizza shops, hospitals, and food processing plants. His role evolved over time, eventually assisting with truck maintenance, driver supervision, and logistics. He even stepped in at the cash and carry area to ensure quality customer service—a true team player.
What made Colony special to Michael were the managers who genuinely cared about their teams and created space for conversation and connection. He spoke fondly of the vast product variety—from cheeses and sauces to paper goods and produce—and how these essentials help businesses thrive.
Michael was known for going the extra mile for customers, always focused on making them feel comfortable and supported. He says his favorite memories are filled with positive customer feedback and incredible coworkers—experiences he’ll always cherish.
Thank you, Michael, for your years of dedication and heart. Wishing you all the best in this next chapter!
Here are some words from other employees:
"Michael Hunter joined the Colony family back in November of 2015. From his first day here, I could sense he was going to be a great fit for this company. Michael had a big personality and an even bigger smile to go with it. His professionalism as a driver was echoed with many compliments over the years from many of our customers. He was always willing to go above and beyond for the customers he was delivering to. In April of 2022, a supervisor position became available, and Michael was the first person considered. We worked closely together in the operations side of the business and Michael supervised and mentored newer employees. Michael always went the extra mile, jumping into any position any time something was needed or coming in on a weekend day to open the warehouse for some last-minute emergency. In February 2025, with much struggle, Michael decided to take an early retirement and move down south to help with family. His work ethic, bigger than life personality, and infectious smile is greatly missed, and Colony Foods wishes him well in all his future endeavors. " - Paul Cresta
"Working with Mike was an absolute pleasure he was always in here with a smile and kind words. He approached every day with a positive attitude that was infectious. You couldn’t help but be happy after having spoken with him. He was always extremely helpful and willing to go above and beyond for everyone he worked with and to help our customers out, even if that meant coming in on a Saturday to help with someone that ran short over the weekend. He never had anything bad to say about a single person, and he was always there to pick you up if you were down. He was truly a blessing to have for as long as we had him, and the place wouldn’t be the same without him.
